Started
drawing cartoons and caricatures at the age of three. Joined
'Bombay Chromicle' as reporter. Drew cartoons in BLITZ as freelancer.
Joined Shankar's Weekly as staff cartoonist in 1951. After two
years went to England for better prospects. Worked as staff
cartoonist in the OBSERVER and the GUARDIAN. In 1969 returned
to India and joined Indian Express. Introduced two famous cartoon
characters under the title PRIVATE VIEW. Published three books
- Abu on Bangladesh, Games of Emergency, Arrivals and Departures.
Producer of animation film NO ARKS, which won
Special Award by the British Film Institute in 1970. Had been
Member of Rajya Sabha, 1972 - '78.
