Born on a Christmas eve in a backwater hamlet in Alleppey, Kerala, Alex Chandy graduated in Applied Art from the college of fine Arts, Trivandrum. A stint with a design group in Bangalore and exposure to environmental design led him to designer
pottery and eventually landed him in scupture, With an insatiable appetite for experimenting in forms and ideas he had done the grabs of a potter, designer, and now painter.Though this is Alex's debut exhibition in paintings, there are several individual and group exhibitions of sculpture and designer pottery to his credit, conducted all over India.
Many of his murals, pottery and sculpture can be found in collections of eminent personalities, besides in institutions like Tata Interactive Systems, Mumbai, Taj Group of Hotels, Nrityagram, Bangalore, Kuteeram, Bangalore and Dakdhinachitra, Chennai, an architecture museum. For the past nine years he has been running Chirath Studio Pottery.
